Salsa Rueda Fundraiser!
What is rueda?
Rueda de Casino (sometimes called Salsa Cubana) is a style of group dance developed in Cuba in which dancers form a large circle, or “una rueda” (a wheel), and all dance the same movements together when the “caller” tells them. Rueda is a fun way to build community and learn how to dance in a low-pressure setting, and it provides you with some moves to try out on the social floor with a partner later! We’re offering a Level 1 and 2 class, followed by a free outdoor social dance. Please know that you don’t need to bring a dance partner, you can join Level 1 with zero prior dance experience, and if you take our Level 1 class you will be all set to join Level 2 the following hour.
1-2PM Level 1 (everyone is welcome!)
2-3PM Level 2 (anyone who took Level 1 / has rueda experience)
3-7PM social dancing with DJ JuanLove! (everyone is welcome!)
What is my ticket supporting?
The proceeds from this event will be put towards a water quality and access project in Los Rios, a community located in the Amazonian region of Ecuador. The project team is made up of volunteers from San Francisco’s Professional Chapter of Engineers Without Borders (EWB), members from the EWB country office in Ecuador, a local NGO, and the Community Water Board of Los Rios. Your ticket will aid in our next phase of water testing and existing/prospective well evaluation in the community. More specifics of our progress thus far and future plans will be shared during the event!
How do I sign up?
Go to the Donation Page, and donate the cost of the class(es) you’d like to take: $20/one class or $35/both classes. Forward your confirmation email with the levels you’d like to join to ewb.sfp.ecuador@gmail.com and we’ll provide you with a ticket! Please note that no refunds will be provided.
