EWB-SFP Programs

To change the world, we have to change our thinking — and change our engineering approaches for the 90 percent of the world still living without basic services.

EWB-SFP has 7 Programs helping developing communities worldwide with their engineering needs:

San Juan de Dios, El Salvador – water and sanitation project, including latrine building

Vanua Levu Island, Fiji – water sanitation and distribution to stem typhoid outbreak

Bayonnais, Haiti – micro hydro solar power system and health clinic construction

Nuevo San Juan, El Caracol, and Nuevo Higureito, Honduras – bridge construction and water supply

Arombe, Kenya – clean water supply – project assessment efforts

Ngelenge, Tanzania – well rebuilding efforts and water distribution using solar tap stands

Appropriate Technology Design Team – sustainable community-based solutions around the world

Projects within these Programs involve the design and construction of water, wastewater, sanitation, energy, health-care and shelter systems. These projects are initiated by and completed with contributions from the host community. During the project implementation process, the host community is trained to operate the systems without external assistance. In this way, EWB-SFP ensures that its projects are appropriate and self-sustaining.
